As my classes move to online learning amid the COVID-19 pandemic, I will be sharing my lessons with you all. My Year 11 VCE Mathematical Methods class are working on a unit titled Functions and Relations. In this video we look at inverse functions. We consider the difference between an inverse function and an inverse relation, and consequently understand why a function must be one-to-one in order for an inverse function to exist. We consider how to calculate the rule for an inverse function. We also consider the connection between the domain and range of the original and inverse functions as well as the graphical connection between a function and its inverse. We use the Cambridge Senior Maths textbook for Unit 1 and 2 Mathematical Methods and the TI Nspire CAS CX / CXII calculator.
