Irish Soda Bread
Homemade Irish Soda Bread Preheat oven to 400° 4 Cups of All Purpose Flour 1 Tbsp of Sugar 1 Tsp of Salt 1 Tsp of Baking Soda 1 Egg 1 3/4 Cups of Buttermilk 2 Tbsp of Melted Butter Combine the dry ingredients, then add in the wet ingredients. Mix well. Either butter your dutch oven or cast iron pan well, or use parchment paper. If you use a dutch oven or a baking dish with a lid, leave the lid off. Use extra flour to shape the dough into a nice ball. Score the bread with an X, using a sharp knife or razor. I placed water into the bottom of my dish for a better rise. If you buttered your dish, you can put water in another dish and place it in the oven, along side the dish with the dough. Bake for about 40 minutes. Make sure the bread as a hard crust on the top and bottom of the bread. Let rest for 20ish minutes on a cooling rack.
