Tips and helpful tips for using the Ironmaster Quick-Lock Dumbbells See this item at: http://www.ironmaster.com/products/quick-lock-dumbbell-system-75 The Ironmaster Quick-Lock adjustable dumbbells are durable and simple. Here are some helpful tips for care and use to get the most out of your workouts. The Quick-Lock Dumbbell handles have a starting weight of five pounds for the empty handle. Each locking screw weighs two and a half pounds so the starting weight before you add plates is ten pounds. The dumbbell handles normally are set down on the stand lengthwise. They can also be set down sideways on the stand in smaller weight ranges. It’s important to set the dumbbells down with the notch facing up. This makes it easier to dial the locking screw notch to the unlocked position. The best way to change weights is to use one hand to unlock and remove a locking screw while using your other hand to move plates on or off. Repeat this process on all four ends. Be sure to turn the locking screws until they’re hand tight. The locking point may not always be the same but should be between 2 and 10 o’clock. The system comes with four two and a half pound plates to make small weight changes. Normally you’ll load the same number of plates on both ends of the dumbbell. To make a small two and a half pound change, you’ll just load one two and a half pound plate on one end of the dumbbell. Simply move your hand closer to the heavier end for good balance. To save time, you can even make a five pound change by loading just one five pound plate on one end and move your hand closer to the heavier end for good balance. If you’re loading only one or two of the smaller plates on the handle, you should turn both locking screws to tighten at the same time. Use the same method when locking only the empty screws into the handles. The Quick-Lock Dumbbells are tough and come with a lifetime warranty, but they aren’t indestructible. If you need to drop them during your work out, use care to drop flat sideways and from a low height. Dropping on the corners with heavy weight may result in bending. The Add on Kit for the dumbbells is normally stored on the bottom shelf of the stand or you can store a kettlebell handle there. The best way to use the Add on Kit is to load the large plates onto the handles first then add the smaller plates. This makes it easier to make smaller weight changes like from 80 to 90. If you notice the locking screws are not easy to turn, you may need to clean out the threads. WD-40 (WD forty) spray works well for this. Spray enough to run out the other end to flush out any metal particles then wipe off any excess. This also helps with lubrication. You can use compressed air too.
