Is This Healing

I grew up learning that feelings were liabilities. Joy, pain, vulnerability; all of it got folded away somewhere quiet where it couldn't be used against me. I became good at winning and bad at caring. Fast, calculated, and untouchable by design. This song is about that version of me, and the slow, unglamorous process of becoming someone different. Someone who laughs out loud now. Who stays when people are breaking. Who tries to build spaces where lost people feel like they belong. But the outro is the most honest part. Because even now, late at night when everything's quiet, I still don't entirely know the answer to the question it asks. Whether this is genuine growth or just repaying something I owe. Whether I learned warmth or just learned to perform it well enough to convince myself. I'm not sure I'll ever fully know. But I think asking the question honestly is further than I used to get.
