A New Family of Indexable Extended Flute Cutters for High Efficiency and Cost Effectiveness In the world of machining, efficiency and profitability are the key to success. With ISCAR's new family of indexable extended flute cutters QUICK-X-FLUTE, manufacturers can achieve high metal removal rates, reduce costs, and increase productivity. These cutters are a game-changer for the machining industry, providing a reliable solution for rough milling challenging engineering materials. The innovative family of 90-degree extended flute cutters features double-sided indexable square inserts, sized 13, available in ISCAR's advantageous MT CVD coated IC5820 and PVD coated IC830, IC840, and IC882 carbide grades. Additionally, there are inserts made from the latest PVD coated IC716 carbide grade, specifically developed for high-performance machining of titanium and titanium alloys. As a result, the QUICK-X-FLUTE cutters are optimized for high-efficiency rough milling of stainless steel, high temperature superalloys, and titanium. The QUICK-X-FLUTE cutters are primarily intended for milling difficult-to-cut materials in the production of high-value components, particularly those in the Aerospace and Heavy Industries. These components often include critical duty-loaded parts. Typical applications involve milling deep square shoulders and wide edges in the manufacturing of aircraft structural units such as airframes, landing gear elements, and engine parts. Additionally, these extended flute cutters are suitable for rough machining of large-sized slots using the trochoidal milling method. The QUICK-X-FLUTE cutters are available in the one-body shell mill configuration. The design of the body is characterized by an optimized flute shape that enhances the cutter’s dynamic behavior, striking a balance between rigidity and effective chip flow during high metal removal rates. The unique flute geometry increases resistance to vibration, providing better milling stability and enabling higher cutting data for improved productivity. The use of high-pressure pinpointed coolant facilitates direct coolant supply to the cutting zone, contributing to effective chip control. The cutter's nominal diameters are 63 and 80 mm in the Metric product line, and 2.5 and 3.0 inches in the Inch product line.
