Isostasy simply means a mechanical stability between the upstanding parts and low-lying basins. It has always been a matter of discussion among geologists that how feature of varying magnitudes e.g. mountain, plateau, plain, lake, sea and oceans, fault, rift valleys etc are standing on the earth surface.
