"Instead, you ought to say, 'If it is the Lord’s will, we will live and do this or that.'"
Instead of making confident plans without God, you should humbly acknowledge that everything depends on God’s will. Say things like: “If the Lord wills, we will go there and do this…”
This is the antidote to arrogant planning (v.13). True humility recognizes that our lives and futures are not in our own hands — they are completely under God’s sovereign control.
