Java Quartet - Pick It Up - featuring Rap artist, Morganics

Jazz meet the street "Pick It Up" - The Java Quartet in session. This is a preview from The Java Quartet's upcoming release in 2013. Recorded live in the studio (Macquarie Uni Studio A) at the end of the album sessions, this "in the round" setting reflects the real time, all in the room, old school recording aesthetic that is a feature of Java Quartet recordings. Deftly captured by long time collaborator Keith Walker, this track not only includes the quartet of Matthew Ottignon on sax, Greg Coffin on piano, Mike Quigley on drums and (composer) Michael Galeazzi on bass, but also features special guests Morganics on the mic and Bobby Singh on tabla. Regular collaborators with the group on the live scene, both Bobby and Morganics seamlessly blend into the ensemble sound of this intimate recording environment.
