Jeni Janover’s final performance ever

🙏🙏🙏 jeni Janover retires from performing . Whole Routine if you missed it . 🙏🙏 It’s 7:25 on Sunday evening and @accrobrandon and I are driving back from @intlpoleconvention . I will be posting later in the week about how wonderful the convention was that this post is about my final performance. In 2010 I inserted myself into an industry without ever competing or really having any credibility. I was told by a mentor of mine that I really was not a good performer, that performing was not my thing. These two comments stuck with me for the last decade and a half and believe it or not I hated preforming because of it . Jump ahead 15 years. This routine represents a lot of things, but most of all it represents the push and pull battle that I think many of us pole professionals have .. the inner conflict between what the industry wants from me, and what I want to give it. I decided it was going to be my last performance for reasons I will talk about in another post . I started working on this routine in March and reached out to a very dear friend of mine…… @marlofisken Marlo was one of my very first instructors. I needed to work with somebody, not to choreograph a routine for me, but to help me see past myself. To see past the movement pathways and patterns that I had done so frequently. I needed to work with somebody who could push me outside of my comfort zone to be comfortable with how I move, comfortable with stillness comfortable with JUST dancing.. NOT IMPRESSING I also need to thank @misslaramichaels Lara is one of the most incredible teachers. I met with Lara twice a week to keep my body balanced, conditioned mobile and happy. In addition, Laura helped me come to a few important decisions towards the end of this creative process.. I am proud of this routine because it represents ME. A 52 almost year-old mother of two. A lover of one , A best friend to another , a movement educator, and maybe a mentor to a few…… But most of all I did this one for me to show myself that ❤️❤️❤️❤️“ THIS WHO I AM”❤️❤️❤️ Thank you for having me pole world….
