We are going to encounter the first miracle recorded by John performed by Jesus. This miracle serves as a sign, the first sign that Jesus is the Messiah.
As the Messiah, Jesus is better. Better: to be of a more excellent quality; Jesus is better; Jesus is of a more excellent quality than anyone else. As we read, look for the ways Jesus is better.
