Jim’s 911 recently underwent a major upgrade to its fuel injection and air intake systems to qualify for the higher GT-3 race group. Based on the car’s weight, the power needed to be increased by approximately 30 horsepower, bringing the target output to around 285 HP. After about 1.5 hours of fine-tuning on the dyno, Kevin (Gas Motorsports) achieved the goal: 285 HP at 7,100 RPM. The upgrade delivered—now it’s just a matter of keeping the revs up. During the dyno runs, we also took sound level measurements. At a distance of 3 feet from the exhaust, the peak sound pressure level was measured at 134 dBA. When the Laguna Seca muffler was installed for testing, the level dropped to approximately 126 dBA @ 3 ft. Given the Laguna Seca special event limit of 105 dBA at 50 feet, the car should be compliant. Let's see how Jim's 911 will stack up against the GT-3 Cup cars on the track.
