Joan Baez sings the Christmas carol 'The Cherry Tree Carol' from her 1961 Vanguard album 'Joan Baez, Vol. 2'. This very popular carol is also a Child ballad (Child #54) and has been covered by a wide range of folk, pop, and religious singers. The song was sung in some form as early as the 1400s with an origin from an apocryphal Gospel that involved a date palm on the flight to Egypt, Jesus already having been born, so a form quite different from much later versions.
