Jesus refers to his people as sheep – sheep as we know are not a vicious animal. They are not equipped to hardly defend themselves They represent man’s need for guidance, protection, and provision. They are very vulnerable without a Shepherd. The lesson is, don’t try to fight the enemy without Christ your Shepherd with you, just as a lamp should not try to fight a wolf, lion, or bobcat on it’s own. Never be so proud to admit that we need Christ our great Shepherd to fight the enemy!
