A manhunt is under way across Sydney's west for three attackers accused of beating and stabbing a 37-year-old man to death. The attack is the second of its kind in a matter of hours. Josese McGoon was walking down the street yesterday with his mate when three masked men dressed in black got out of a car and attacked him. McGoon's friend managed to distract one of them while the other two beat and stabbed him until he fell to the ground. McGoon's friend returned to the scene after the attackers left, driving him to Westmead Hospital. He underwent surgery for his injuries but was pronounced dead just before 6pm. Police think it was likely a targeted attack but don't know why. "They obviously had intent when they went to that location they knew what they were up to and obviously our victim and his friend were in the wrong place at the wrong time," Superintendent Andrew Holland said. "The attack at this point - we don't know of any links but again there's concerns about why they've been attacked in the middle of the day in the middle of the street." It's the second alleged stabbing murder in just 12 hours. Today the teen was refused bail. "It's a major concern across society as a whole - everyone seems to think they need to carry a knife to protect themselves," Holland said. "It's an offence."
