Journey to the Table: a dance narrative exploring personal journeys to meet the great Restorer at the Table. This collaborative production was choreographed and performed by the Jubilee Dance Company. A symbol of God’s presence on earth, a place where God’s love and nourishment is spread before us like a feast. Where the lame come and dine like royalty. Where prison garments are set aside to feast on Grace. Overwhelming provision at the table is found in the presence of God, in the presence of enemies, in dry wilderness, and in abundant spaciousness. Wisdom, protection, empowerment, and victory are served here. Everyone is invited, even those hiding in the hedges. It is a place where eyes are open and we see God. In Exodus 15, God introduces Himself as Jehovah Rapha, I am the Lord who heals you. The richness of this Hebrew word contains restoration and renewal. As a collective, we have held our broken pieces and offered them up to God. Together, we have seen Him seen bring them back together to a greater wholeness. Out of this fullness, we are sharing our stories, our hearts, our art with you tonight. I have met God at the Table. Here, I have seen myself tangled up in knots with the mess of my life hearing His invitation to let Him do the unraveling and weaving of my story. I have held the brokenness of my life and of others and watched Him make something beautiful, more glorious than I could imagine. I have come to the Table, tired, hungry, and downcast, and He has fed me, packed a picnic and said, “Go share this with others.” We invite you to come to the Table, feast, and meet God.
