Kick Drum and Bass Guitar (Side Chain Compression Tutorial)
Kick Drum and Bass Guitar – This video is all about the Kick Drum and Bass Guitar. These two instruments are in most mixes but are known to often compete with each other in terms of frequencies. This can make the low end of our mixes sound muddy and overpowering instead of clear and punchy. In this video we look at one of the techniques that we can use to solve this, side chain compression. Using side chain compression, we can tell the bass guitar to turn down in level whenever the kick drum hits. This creates space in the mix for the kick drum and so the two instruments compete with each other less. This video looks at how to set up side chain compression and the filter settings in side chain compression. It is aimed at beginner home producers, engineers and artists. Topics and Timings: 1.
