Here's a tip on how to create and use round-robin samples with the Korg Electribe Sampler 2 (E2S).
By using a sample with equally spaced hits the Electribe you can "slice" the sample up, and will play it sequentially. If the number of hits is odd, then the cycle doesn't repeat frequently. Even a snare dum fill of 16th notes will play different hits per step, so you can avoid the "machine gun" effect that happens when rapidly repeating a single sample.
This technique is not a replacement for multi-sampling which gives even greater responsiveness and organic sound, but it is still pretty good.
