MGMT on the Loss of Life, Alien-Delivered Songs, & a Congratulations Callback
Andrew VanWyngarden and Ben Goldwasser catch up with Kyle Meredith to dig into MGMT’s latest album, Loss Of Life. The duo unravel why their songs seem to land later than when they’re launched, having the idea of loss of life as a theme, and the most challenging and vulnerable moments within their lyrics. We also hear about aliens delivering part of the song “Bubblegum Dog,” how “Nothing Changes” has a jumping off point from one of their early tracks, and writing a song about his great great aunt, Phradie Wells, a New York Metropolitan opera star in the 1920s.
