Lake Cave

We decend deep down into Lake Cave beneath the towering karri trees, through a sunken forrest. Only a 20 minute drive from Margaret River in Western Australia, Lake Cave offers an incredible journey int the underground. A tranquil lake reflects the very delicate crystal formations that grow from the cave ceiling. Look out for the "unique suspended table" (that weighs several tonnes) thet appears to defy gravity almost floating above the waters surface. Around one million years old, we discover this sparkling crystal chamber deep beneath the surface. Currently the water levels in Lake Cave have reached its highest point in decades. Many saying that this is a one in a lifetime opportunity to witness the reflections dance across the lakes surface. Increased water flow through the limestone has occurred due to bush fires burning significant areas of vegetation above, which would normally absorb large amounts of water from the soil.
