This season’s weather has been horrendous so far. Lots of high gusting wind, not suitable for flying. So I’ve been grounded and haven’t been able to make a video in a few weeks. I went through the archives and dug this video up from last season. This showcases some high wind flying and why it’s not really fun. We move about 1 mile in 20 minutes. This is demonstrating laminar flow, which we sometimes get here in NC. The wing is still flying at the same speed it always does; it just doesn’t move across the ground very fast. It’s kind of like swimming upstream; your stroke is the same, but the water flowing against you makes it difficult to make any progress. Swim downstream, and you cover more ground because the water pushes you.
