Correcting an uneven diameter and out of roundness on a small milling machine (Emco) post and slide. The slide was split and equipped with bolts to adjust the ID. This made the bore oval (by about 10 microns) but the lapping corrected this to the exact roundness and diameter. The post was too out of round by about 5 microns and diameter changes by about the same amount. This caused binding or too lose a fit.
I was using a non embedding lapping compounds ("Timesever" Green) starting with mesh 77 and finishing with 333.
