LASD Academy Class 288 - Class Video (1995)
My how times have changed over the years, its been almost 30 years since this was produced and the Sheriff's Academy is run so much more differently these days. This is an amazing and historical snapshot of the past indeed. Back in 1995, JDW Productions was commissioned by Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department Academy to edit and produce a "class video" for their Academy Class #288. Most of the video was filmed by the cadets themselves. I filmed some portions of the academy as well as the graduation ceremony. The production was paid for by the cadets themselves and no department resources were used in the production of this video. I used a Amiga Video Computer and Newtek's "Video Toaster" software to edit and produce. Most of the graphics were produced on Newtek's "Lightwave" and Electronic Arts "Deluxe Paint" programs which were cutting edge graphic programs back in the day. The production was originally mastered at at 3:4 ratio which was the format of the time for TV's of the day. To post this I had to transfer the video from DVD and re-edit it into a 16:9 format which did create some video artificing but otherwise was ok. Special thanks to Scott Crones and Geoffrey Morgan as well as all the folks who helped make this happen... enjoy!
