0:04 First Upwind, Torquing and aggressively steering on occasional chops. Trying to focus on telltales and often looking at the mainsheet to make sure it is block to block. I should probably avoid doing this and just sheet in with my hands instead of visually checking. I should instead look more ahead for puffs and shifts 0:27 Maybe too much heel after the last wave, but in the end I think I flatten and round up quickly without loosing the lane (could've been a coincidental wind shift to the left, the windward telltale goes straight, so I think that's the case) 0:30 Having lost a bit of speed and power I power up easing cunningham 1:00 Checking layline 1:18 Tacking, maybe too much sheet out? definetly a touch late on the sheet in 1:36 Mark rounding I could be faster on the controls, but taking it easy to make things right, maybe a bit too much bear away with littlle windward heel, but I think the boat ends up nicely downwind without speed loss 2:00 nicely downwidn at first, trying to combine heel with steering and timing with the waves. I am learning to lock my legs and butt in the cockpit plus finding contact points on the deck 2:10 done something wrong there, too much rolling, maybe I lifted by butt or simply too much daggerboard up 2:20 Not entirelly sure what caused that near deathroll, maybe I did not flatten with my body when a gust hit, I could've capitalised on it but instead I slowed down... (at least I did not capsize) 2:22 After the deathroll recovery I immediatelly set up correctly and accellerate on the gust (look at the mast bending forward) 02:31 Upwind I tell the coach boat to give me some space to tack 02:50 kicking my daggerboard down... I really need to change my daggerboard brake and add some padding in the front of the case... It gets really annoying when it's windy 03:00 I feel like I could hike a bit more, so I ease cunningham for a bit extra power 3:20 Tacking, and I come out a bit slow, not sure if I went in with my body a bit early or flattened while I was still pinching 3:44 Another aggressive bear away, not sure if bad or not, but regardless I end up with my sheet tangled at 75°, I am experimenting with tying or letting free the sheet, to be fair, most of the tangles were because of the water bottle in my cockpit, I need to either fix it to the mast or under the toestrap at the back of the cockpit 5:33 Nicer with the tiller here but maybe not enough sheet out (again another tangle on my foot) 4:40 Finally some long dowwidn footage, I try to follow the wave direction and head up when on the back of the wave, I try to keep my movements smooth, no point in being aggressive when the waves are not powerful enough to allow surfing... CONCLUSIONS: - I feel like my body movement and steering was good upwind, not as good downwind but at least I understand what I can do to fix it - Need to add more weight and steer less on the mark roundings, maybe hike forward rather than out as well - I am relearning to tack so I flatten while rounding up to close hauled rather than fighting the flattening by bearing away always close-hauled, hence a bit of insecurity on the tacks... - Overall need to get faster on adjustments - I don't know how noticeable it is but I need to loose a few kgs, I weigh around 90-92kg, would like to be 85-87kg.
