213 years ago on January 1st, Haiti became the first black nation on the Western hemisphere, consisting of former slaves of the African diaspora who fought for and won their freedom. "Latibonit" is a Haitian folk song brought to Women of the World by member Deborah Pierre. The story behind this folk tune revolves around the region of Latibonit, a department of Haiti. The narrator/singer describes a call given for their return to this region, after receiving news that the sun there is sick. Upon returning, they discover that the sun has died. This brings about a great sorrow within them. The narrator/singer then decides to stay in Latibonit to await the return of the sun. Performed during the Women of the World Japan 2015 Tour. Featuring: Deborah Pierre - Voice Ayumi Ueda - Voice Annette Philip - Voice Giorgia Renosto - Voice Flavio Lira - Bass Patrick Simard - Drums Hinako Sato - Piano Noriko Terada - Percussion Billy Yeung - Woodwinds www.womenoftheworldmusic.com
