In Singapore Secondary School Math, Prime Factorisation is a basic but essential concept students are encountering and adopting when dealing with questions involving HCF and LCM. Usually, for questions involving HCF and LCM, students are not allowed to use a calculator to solve them. To solve questions on HCF and LCM using Prime Factorisation, students need to use Repeated Division to find list of Prime Factors. This list of prime factors is then written as a product, known as Prime Factorisation. Students are also learning how to express LCM and HCF using Index Notation.
