Lead Me, Lord

Desires can often lead us away from God if they are rooted in the flesh rather than the Spirit. Galatians 5:16 reminds us, "Walk in the Spirit, and ye shall not fulfil the lust of the flesh." The Bible teaches us to avoid sinful desires like lust, greed, and idolatry (Colossians 3:5, Ephesians 5:3). Romans 8:13 warns, "For if ye live after the flesh, ye shall die: but if ye through the Spirit do mortify the deeds of the body, ye shall live." We are called to "mortify" or put to death these earthly desires and live in righteousness, seeking to please God (Romans 6:13).
