This song is one of the most personal songs I’ve ever written as The Pearts. On July 5th, my world changed when my mom passed away while we were in Texas visiting family for the Fourth. I’ll never forget getting that call from my dad and making that long drive back to Alabama with so many thoughts running through my head. That season broke something in me… but it also opened my eyes to how much I needed God and how important it was for me to lead my family spiritually. This song is about that drive, that pain, that surrender, and the peace God gave me in the middle of it all. But more than anything, this is a thank you to my mom. The good moments, the hard moments, the lessons, the love, the mistakes, the laughter… every bit of it helped shape me into the man I am today. I truly would not change a thing because without her, I wouldn’t be me. She was the best mom I could have ever asked for, and I’ll carry her love and lessons with me for the rest of my life.
