Learn to PAINT FIRE & FLAMES using an AIRBRUSH | Full Tutorial

Within this video I'll show you how to paint a dramatic and realistic looking fire. Like always I started by drawing out my initial contours using a grid on a wooden panel painted black, but please feel free to use any transfer technique you prefer. For the majority of the flames, I'm using a white opaque color using shields, vinyl tape, and some frisket for sharper, defined edges. For the softer edges I'll paint them in freehand. With the opaque white (along with the carbon black background), we have a fair amount of blue/gray that will shift the glazes sprayed over the top towards a cooler (bluer) hue. So I'll show you all the techniques I use to negate and push back those gray, green, and magenta hues. Thanks for watching!
