This lecture starts with a discussion of diffraction from crystals that have a lattice with a basis. This leads to the definition of structure factor for different kinds of lattices. Structure factor is worked out for a BCC lattice. Then we present experimental methods of obtaining x-ray diffraction from a crystal and analyzing it from the theory developed. Finally, we obtain the Debey-Waller that gives the temperature dependence of intensity of diffraction peaks.
