In this lecture the continue equation is derived from first principles. The difference between integral equations and differential equations are also discussed. The two special cases of steady flow and incompressible flow are also discussed. . The lecture was based on the textbook of White (7th edition) and was presented as part of a heat transfer class to the fourth year students of the Department of Mechanical and Aeronautical Engineering by Prof Josua Meyer, Head of the Department of Mechanical and Aeronautical Engineering of the University of Pretoria, South Africa. Lecture was presented on 4 March 2014.
