Lesson 9 Malachi
The Book of Malachi closes both the series of books known as the Twelve Minor Prophets, and closes the Old Testament revelation as well. Malachi is the final prophet to bring a message to God's pre-advent elect before a 400 year period of silence from God, until He sends John the Baptist, representing Eljah to prepare the way for the coming of the Messiah. Malachi’s prophecy is written in the form of a dialogue, a back-and-forth discussion between God and His chosen people of Israel. Malachi's prophesy focusses on six key issues: 1. God’s love for Israel 2. The people’s careless approach to worship 3. The nation’s callous and twisted view of the marriage covenant 4. The injustice and lack of truth that filled the land 5. The sin of withholding tithes 6. God’s intention to judge sinners, and reward the faithful. It is a message as relevant today as it was in Malachi's day. You are invited to join us as we explore the Biblical perspective of Worship, marriage and divorce, tithing, God's future. judgment and reward.
