Level 0 data flow diagrams are used to give an overview of an entire system. This type of diagram is also known as a Context Diagram. In a Level 0 DFD there is only one circle (process) that represents an entire system. The purpose of the diagram is to display expected inputs and outputs related to the system stemming from various external entities.
