One of Elton John’s early tracks is Levon which comes from the album Madman Across The Water (1971). The song was somewhat successful in America peaking at number 24 on the Billboard Hot 100. The song has been met with a growing popularity since the release of the album. There has been rumors circulating that the lyric is related to Levon Helm, drummer and singer in The Band, although Bernie Taupin has denied this.
The song is a frequent part of Elton John’s live sets and was also heavily featured in solo shows in the past. These solo versions from various decades have inspired this version.
