Leveraging a specific tool to manage and execute your business needs is a no brainer. In fact, the reality is that all of us use multiple tools everyday to “get the job done”. The popularity of portals stems from the innate desire to have the proverbial single pane of glass that we can use to visualize many moving parts – allowing us to avoid incessant context switching. For this to work however we need to have the data from multiple data sources aggregated. Historically, you would solve this problem in Liferay with a plugin – most likely a widget/portlet – that allows you to bridge the gap between Liferay and your remote system. Not only is this another application (read: cost) to maintain, it also requires specialized skills to accomplish. Wouldn’t it be great is you could more easily reference data from those remote systems, in Liferay, and then use Liferay’s features as though the data WAS in Liferay? Enter Proxy Objects. In this session we’re going to take a sneak peek at a new Beta feature to understand how it will change the way you build those data rich views in your Liferay solutions. In this session we’ll: + Concepts and Context + Introduce our External Data Source and Ballerina + Bridge the Gap between Liferay and the External System + Connect the data into Liferay + Visualize the Data using Liferay UI Capabilities Join us and learn more about this exciting up and coming feature!
