What is a draw wire, and when should you use one? In this video, we demonstrate two EPC draw wire models, and talk in depth about how draw wires work with encoders, and the applications and environments where a draw wire might be preferable over other common linear motion feedback devices. Available in wire lengths from one meter to 42.5 meters, the Model LCX Draw Wire is compatible with the following 58 mm shafted encoders with clamping flange: Model A58SB, which offers SSI and CANopen® communication protocols; Model A58SE, which offers EtherCAT® and PROFINET® communication protocols; Model 758 Accu-Coder® , a high-performance incremental encoder; and the Model 858S Accu-Coder®, a stainless steel incremental encoder. EPC can help you choose the right encoder and wire length for your application. 00:00- Introduction 00:20- Applying draw wire encoders 00:37- Incremental encoders-Communicate motion via pulses 01:07- Absolute encoders-Communicate unique position values 02:41- Use a draw wire encoder for measuring horizontal or vertical movement 05:24- Model LCE Linear Cable Encoder 05:46- Model LCX Draw Wire Series 06:41- Using a draw wire and encoder #linearmeasurement #motioncontrol #automation
