Live @ Stabla

Apologies for the camera placement for this one! (It was a little tight for space up there, so you'll be watching a lot of my back sadly!). The audio is however all good! I'd reckon that possibly rates as my best live set to date, by quite some distance to be honest :) I fumbled a couple of transitions at the start, but it’s one of those rare moments where everything “just worked”! I had a bit of a plan for the start (a couple of small sounds you may have heard before), but my aim was to make sure I could build the patch up into a bit of a safe space for me. At that point, it’s all up to a bit of luck, and hope the experimentation works (knowing that you’ve got a safe patch to retreat to if starts going wrong) It also helped that I was playing through an extremely tasty Meyer Sound rig (a big thanks to the legend that is Dayle at Stabla, for making that rig hum beautifully!). It’s something I’ve noticed a few times before, but often a rig has been tuned for a typical DJ set. My rig however, tends to have a LOT more bass than a typical DJ. That’s always an odd one, because you know it needs to be adjusted, but I only have one pair of hands! 😂 Last night did feel a bit like a culmination of everything I’ve been trying to achieve for the last few years. Seeing Pippin and Jamin on the dance floor scheming about how to improve the visual experience of my live shows, brought a smile to my face! Despite appearances of just being one bloke, there is a team of people behind the scenes helping me out. It’s an amazing feeling knowing you’ve got the support of others! What might not be apparent from the video, is that the entire audience came up to join me at one point or another (either to ask questions, or to simply look!). I’m often annoyed when that happens (i’m usually busy tbh!), but last night went so well, that it was actually a pleasure to share the experience with others! An awesome night, and i hope the video shares a bit of the tassie vibe with everyone! 🙏 🙏
