I can't sleep, so here's a tune and a brainfull of thoughts. You can't be a wordless cry against formalism and logocentrism if you add commentary, but some things need said. Words are little liars, they get our gut before they reach our brains. So when you hear someone making a false claim, it still takes a small seat in your brain. You have to consciously work to wriggle it out and understand the feelings.  Fascists love this about humans, so they use words that target our feelings of disgust. If you hear a politician inspiring nausea instead of hope, you should know that nothing they want to spoon feed you will cure your bellyache or theirs.  Watch for these tactics: Fear-mongering: This involves creating a sense of impending danger or crisis, often by blaming specific groups or individuals. Scapegoating: Identifying a particular group or entity as responsible for all of society's problems, often based on prejudice or stereotypes. Us vs. Them: Dividing the population into two opposing groups, often based on ethnicity, religion, or socioeconomic status. Conspiracy Theories: Promoting unfounded beliefs about secret plots or cabals that are supposedly controlling events. Nationalism and Patriotism: Invoking strong feelings of national pride and loyalty, often in a way that excludes or marginalizes certain groups. Simple Solutions to Complex Problems: Offering simplistic solutions to complex societal issues, often without considering the potential consequences. Charismatic Leadership: Relying on a charismatic leader to inspire and mobilize followers. Dog Whistles: Using coded language or symbols that only certain audiences will understand, allowing them to convey discriminatory or hateful messages without explicitly stating them. Emotional Appeals: Playing on the emotions of the audience, such as anger, fear, or resentment. False Equivalencies: Drawing false comparisons between unrelated events or situations to make a point. Everyone can be guilty of these. They are all equally unappealing from any source, and they should all be examined before being allowed or accepted into your belief structures. Examine the dialog presented to you by supposed authorities with your peers and find a common truth with them. Form immortally weird local communities that seek to transcend this dangerous illogic. To the point of this music, refugees are individuals who have fled their home countries due to persecution, war, or other forms of violence. They are granted legal status under international law and are protected by various international treaties. Calling them "illegal immigrants" is a deliberate attempt to undermine their legal status and portray them as criminals or undesirables. This is a harmful and inaccurate portrayal that can lead to discrimination, prejudice, and violence against refugees. Characterizing Haitian refugees as 'not belonging' in the United States is a harmful and deeply offensive narrative that perpetuates xenophobia and discrimination. Such rhetoric can have devastating consequences for Haitian communities, alienating them from American society, hindering their integration, and contributing to a climate of fear and uncertainty. It's essential to recognize the contributions of Haitian refugees to our country and to treat them with dignity and respect, regardless of their immigration status.
