Lock and Key

Lock and Key Written By: ©Ervin Hagler This was a collaboration project I did with a group called “Headed For Heaven” (HDD4HVN) back in 1997. I brought my Groove Tube microphone into Ervins studio, set it up, he plugged it into his 16 track reel to reel recorder and I sang the vocal track you hear in the recording. The lead guitarist, Duane Finger (RIP) was there playing and Ervin played guitar too. All of the music was recorded by Ervin using a MIDI sequencing program recorded onto 16 track tape. He recorded all the drums, bass, strings and flute with that program. They laid down the live guitar tracks to complete the recording. In 2025, I added a bit of guitar in the beginning, pads and bells near the end and staccato strings on the last verse. I sang the harmony in 2025 using the SAME groove tube microphone that I used 28 years earlier! The remix was done using LogicPro 11 on my Mac M4 Computer. I mastered the song using Logics new mastering assistant. This is a project I’ve been wanting to do for so many years but couldn’t because the technology wasn’t available until recently. I needed the stem splitting feature found in Logic 11 and only possible on a M1-M4 computer. In the original mix-down of the song, the vocals are in the background and the guitar is up front louder than any other track. With LogicPro’s stem splitting technology, I was able to isolate the vocal track and add custom effects and increase the volume of the vocals for a better mix. I created the video using Adobe Premiere Pro in June of 2025. I hope you are blessed by this powerful song! I did NOT write this song and claim no copyright to it whatsoever. Be Blessed!
