I cut these sugar maple logs back in winter and let them sit just long enough before inoculating. This is part of a small project testing Lion’s Mane on sugar maple—comparing standard length logs to longer ones to see if it changes how they take or fruit. Most of the work is just repetition. Drilling, plugging, sealing, and getting everything stacked in a spot that’s worked before. I also added a few poplar logs for oyster mushrooms. Different wood, different feel, and a few things I noticed right away while working with it. Now everything’s set. Just a matter of time to see what takes. Next video, I start going through a high-mileage truck I picked up and everything that needs work. Tools used in this video: - Drill bits, wax, plugs, all from https://fieldforest.net/ - hammer - https://amzn.to/3OLk8bN - Drill - https://amzn.to/4eqdXEl #IronAndFur Spawn plugs and wax used in this project came from Field and Forest Products.
