Looking for Moonshine

Beannachdan na Samhna dhuibh uile! Happy Halloween to you all! In Gaelic culture, the veil between this world and the next is thin on Halloween night. There’s plenty of stories of bòcain | ghosts or spirits, manaidhean |omens, an deamhan | the devil, na sìthichean | the fairies, an droch shùil | the evil eye, buidseachd | curses, and the like. People would often be out playing tricks on each other, and it’s also a time of year when folks might try and divine the future – eating fuarag with hidden items that predict your fortune in it is a popular Halloween tradition around here. We celebrated Oidhche Shamhna | Halloween with Oidhche nam Bòcan | Night of the Spirits this past weekend, and thought we’d share one of this year’s skits with you all.
