Double gyroid structures are comprised of two separate, interwoven networks that are both continuous in 3 dimensions. These networks are typically comprised of interconnected nodes, each with three connecting struts. This loop defect in the double gyroid structure is comprised of 7 nodes, five with 3 struts each, one with 4 and one with 5, forming a larger loop than those created by the typical connectivity of the double gyroid. This defect can be named loop 7-5,3,4,3^4 by naming the type of defect and total number of nodes, then going around the loop starting from the node with the highest functionality.
