MacBook M1 → M4: Worth it for programmers?

I recently bought a new MacBook Pro 16" (M4), in order to replace my old 13" M1 from 2020. Here, I'm looking at performance on developer/SWE tasks, and focusing on short tasks (as opposed to benchmarks and bulk tasks that take minutes to complete).
