The idea of this painting coming from tradition of medieval Armenian manuscripts. Its illustrations was painted on gold, which was representing higher spiritual realm. Second step was painting all composition with special red pigment called Vordan Carmir which was made only in Armenia. After that painting was completed with other colors. So this experiment was following that tradition but in abstract form.
