More info is given here: https://www.homemade-circuits.com/make-this-3-step-automatic-battery/ In this video we explain one practical 3-step automatic battery charger circuit which is built using TIP3055 transistors, BC547 transistors, zener diodes, and rectifier diodes, so now the whole thing works for charging 12V lead acid batteries in a proper stepped way. We have three charging stages here, and each one takes over by itself, no relay, no clicking, just transistor shifting quietly. Stage 1 gives high current first, which means battery gets bulk charging when voltage is low, then Stage 2 comes in and current becomes medium, more controlled, and after that Stage 3 gives low current, which finishes the charging slowly. The voltage also shifts by itself, starting near 12.3V, then moving around 13.3V, and finally reaching 14.3V, so because of that the battery charges faster than ordinary chargers, since current and voltage do not stay fixed all the time. In this video you will see complete circuit working, then how each TIP3055 stage behaves, what the zener diodes and current limiter transistor section are doing, and moreover how RX and RY resistors decide charging current. We also see transformer voltage side, because 15V transformer is the one recommended here, since that gives enough margin for all three stages to work correctly. Heat sink part also matters, because when current rises then TIP3055 can heat, so then proper aluminum heat ink should be there.
