To much build up can be really annoying and ruin your final results. To prevent this we don't want to much build up of paint on the paint brush and you have to have the confidence to make contact with the object slightly as you pull the brush over the surface.
Pro Tip: Use Blue Frog Tape or Yellow Frog Tape to tape areas and practice this way first if you don't just want to dive in. Using tape is a good safety net when learning different methods. At the end of the day the results are what matters and it's not how you get there but how it all turns out.,
