Make WordPress Post Categories Mandatory
Post categories exist in WordPress by default. When making a new post or editing an existing post, you can set one or more categories for your posts. Sometimes you or even your client might forget to set a category and then your post becomes uncategorized. That can create headaches in many ways. You don't want a post that belongs to a specific category be seen as uncategorized. You don't want to go back and fix each one of those posts. Instead, you want to limit yourself or your client from making such a mistake by making the post categories mandatory/required! Yes that's right, you can do that completely free and very easily. To make post categories as required, the idea is to use a plugin that supports field groups and that can take existing taxonomy and put it in that field group. Such plugins are ACF and Meta Box. I did not test on others such as Toolset or Pods. If you did let me know in the comments below. Watch the video to see exactly how it's done.
