Making a Brook Trout Fly!

This is a simplified version of the realistic brook trout fly I tied a while back. A lot of people didn’t realize that fly was more intended for art. While you could fish it, it wouldn’t be ideal due to casting issues, durability, the hard fins causing spin, and how time consuming it is to make. However, with so much interest in fishing this pattern, I decided to make a simplified version that I would absolutely stock in my fly box. Realistic flies can look great, but they’re very time-consuming, so using a fly like this, which gets the job done and presents the shape and color of a brook trout, is really all you need. So here you go! I haven’t fished this one yet, but next time I’m after big brook trout this fall, I’ll definitely be giving it a try! Good luck fishing this fall, everyone!
