In this video I'm making a Ditty Bag. This bag pattern can be found in The Arts of the Sailor by Hervey Garrett Smith. For me though, I wanted to make something similar ever since I saw Ben Stiller's character galavanting around Iceland carrying a bag in The Secret Life of Walter Mitty.
For the sake of the video, I made it the same size as the pattern, but in the future I will be making it bigger to accommodate more items and with waxed canvas. Here I'm using blue canvas, unwaxed unfortunately (since that's what I had at the time), and some 4-5oz Montana Tan leather I picked up from Tandy Leather Factory.
