MAKING A LEATHER BACKPACK
I've never crafted a backpack, let alone a bag, on a sewing machine. Granted, all of the items I craft are done by hand, but I wanted to try something that put me out of my comfort zone and at the same time inspire you to try something that you might have a fear of starting or finishing. Crafted in Orange, CA, USA, this backpack was made with a Montana Side 5/6oz Tan from Argentina that I picked up during a recent visit to my local Tandy Leather Factory. Really, I just loved the color of this leather and over the course of several months when shopping at Tandy I would stop and look at this leather and try to think of what project I would make with it. All of the hardware was also purchased through Tandy. I'm using a Consew 225 sewing machine that my good friend Andrew hooked me up with a few years ago. It needs some love and I'm sure some replacement parts, but I got it in a decent place where I felt like some trial projects would work well on it. I hope you enjoy the video.
