Get a glimpse into what our Ugandan team at Exodus Projects is doing to learn and teach a construction method utilizing a compression block making process. This method avoids contribution to deforestation and pollution by utilizing locally available materials including cement, sand, and a clay and gravel rich soil called murram. These materials are carefully mixed with a small amount of water, compressed in a molding machine, then air and water cured for 14-21 days. The resulting block can be used with very little mortar to construct buildings of all shapes and sizes, latrines, water retention tanks, and even swimming pools.
